The Ocean is the
heart of the planet. Oceans are not mere bodies of water but they are the source
of life on Earth. Water covers more than two-thirds of the Earth’s surface. Sea
plants, produce 70% of the oxygen we breathe, and the deep waters are home to
wildlife amongst which are some of the biggest creatures on the planet. It
provides us with food, jobs, life, entertainment, sailing, and regulates climate
on Earth. Without oceans, we can’t survive.

about Oceans that their significance on the planet;
1. Oceans cover more than 70% of the Earth’s
surface which is two-third of the planet.
2. Until this day, less than 5% of the oceans
have been explored. Science is getting to know oceans better.
3. Earth’s longest chain of
mountains, the Mid-Ocean Ridge, is almost entirely beneath the ocean,
stretching across a distance of 65,000 kilometers
4. There are more historic
artifacts under oceans than in our world’s museums.
5. There
are now 240,470 accepted species, but this is believed to be just a small proportion
of the species that exist. We have only discovered a fraction.
6. It is possible to find lakes and rivers under the oceans. When salt water and hydrogen
sulfide combine, it becomes denser than the rest of the water around it,
enabling it to form a lake.
7. Over
70% of the oxygen is produced by oceans. Rainforests only produce 28% of the oxygen.
8. Almost
half of the United States exists beneath oceans.
9. The Pacific Ocean, the world’s largest oceans, contains around 25000 islands.
10. 94% of Earth species exist
underwater, hence the majority of life is aquatic.
